i just zoomed into the second pic.... A SHEET OF FRESH HONEYCOMB!?....Who does that? where do we live?

I am imagining spring skiing on crowded blue groomers, so looking forward to taking our time absorbing the views and partaking in the local delicacies.

Snow quality - Do they really blow new snow every night (when temps allow?) I am seeing rain in the forecast for my first few days there, but hopefully that's just down in the towns and not up top.

Have you guys figured out your Plan B from the flight debacle? Maybe side trip to Kitzbuhel on the ride back up?

k

Sounds like fun! Looking forward to following your adventure.
I'll try to post daily updates but can't promise how organized they will be. More like a stream of consciousness...And you can expect a lot of food porn plus various other random thoughts.

Just got back from a week in Cortina which was my first time in the Dolomites. As others have said the skiing is mostly groomers that are well kept but unlike in the US they usually lead from one place to another, not just the bottom of the lift you just got off although you can do that too. The real story for me was the food. We had lunch at 5 different Rifugios all of which were better than most dinner meals elsewhere and inexpensive. The Pigs Knuckle ant Polenta at Cristallo with a tall beer and unbelievable views was 19 euro! Try getting anything like that in the US. I don't think you will be disappointed wherever you decide to stop for an espresso and pastry or lunch and a beer its all good. Also not too shabby being able to watch the World Cup Super G while grabbing a bite! :beercheer:
thanks for sharing and glad you had a good time. Unfortunately, we won't have time to make it to Cortina. We will likely stay around Val Gardena, Alta Badia, and Val di Fassa - whatever time allows. i know the food, scenery, and culture are tops over the actual skiing here. That's fine for me, since this will be our first time on skis since last year and easy groomer cruising sounds like what we need....That world cup slope looks way steeper than i have seen it in other pics. It looks like a vertical wall. Did you actually get video of people flying by? what an amazing thing to witness so close. I bet the sounds were awesome.

Would you go back again?
