What is Spring MTBing like in Summit County? Muddy? I plan to be in CO a week for Memorial Day to get in training on my road bike for Triple Bypass and would like to get on the knobbies a day or so as well. Wasn't sure on off-road conditions at Copper, Breck and WP at end of May. Is it better to stay to the roads until June for snow to finish melting or is off road good to go by then?

The Frisco Peninsula is dry. Some of the trails around the Golden Horseshoe are ready, like the Flume trails, Mike's and others.

From a post in the Summit County Trail Conditions FB page:

Town of Breckenridge and Summit Trail Conditions Update:
No big surprise, a lot of our trails are still covered in snow, are wet and muddy.
If you’re staying local this weekend a few trails are dry:
Lower Flume >Mike’s> Upper Flume
River Trail
Betty’s Trail
X10U8 (out and back)
Jack’s Cruel Joke>Hermit Placer>Carter Park
Frisco Peninsula
Ore Grande Trail
The Wellington Bike Park is getting close but needs routine maintenance.

*If the trail starts to get muddy and you think it’s going to get better, it’s probably not, so just turn around.*

I'm still in ski mode, so I won't be much help beyond this post.

I would follow that up with the Eagle trails are on average more flowy compared to more technical in Summit. Most North facing high elevation stuff will still not be open by Memorial but lots of stuff will.
