Day 1, mammoth, Thursday 17th. I had heard some horror stories about skis getting destroyed so started out on a rea rock pair. Turned out it was actually pretty decent. Chair 3 and broadway quite reasonable cover so switched to a half decent 188/30 nordica GS pair and let em rip

Day 2 Friday 18th. Opening day at mt rose. Pretty limited but racked up a few laps on an old fis slalom. Felt good to be back " home"

I got up on Saturday morning and drove down to the coast to close our summer place, and took my last swim in the Med. Sunday drove up to the mountains to notch first day of the season. It's raining up there now to 2000 meters though, so the next weekend's unclear. The top at 3000 should be getting snow, but we'll have to see.

Looking pretty soupy right now at about 1900 meters:

This is an image from the Swiss side looking up the back side of our hill, must be about 2300 meters. The artificial lake there wouldn't normally be frozen yet, but it would be a good sign if there were some ice on it:

0 days. Maybe soon. Alpine Meadows opens Wednesday (not good-only Kangaroo chair is open.)_
BA says Sugarbowl got 27 inches, Boreal 24 inches, Mt Rose 19 inches. Others missed with less than a foot.
rain on top of 6 inches on south shore.

Day two at Eldora today. Gotta hand it to them, they have 3 routes down from Cannonball/Challenge and 1 from Sundance. Never waited behind more than 5 chairs.

5 and counting After another 8-10" of new snow, the storm that dumped 7 feet has finally petered out. Tomorrow we start the long drive back to Trout Land and more familiar slopes. All in all hard it's to envision a better start to the season.

Day 2 at Cannon. Snow was a lot firmer than Friday, but it softened up a little by the afternoon.
