In fact, there remains a second slopeside property right next door to the house we booked. Hopefully the list of maybes congeals soon enough to book it before it's taken (hot tub, the works). Looks like there'll be a pretty big turnout.

I'm sure we'll be repeating this year last year's successful Saturday luncheon, too. This is for the last weekend of February, at Timberline.

For laggards and folks that don't have enough people in their group to rent a house..
Timbers Inn
Our new-construction hotel right on the slopes has 22 rooms in categories ranging from Standard to Expanded Standard, Jacuzzi Standard and the Family Jacuzzi suite with an adjoining room and two sets of bunk beds. These rooms sleep from four to eight people, and the mattresses do not disappoint! There is an exercise room and high standards for housekeeping. Go right out the front door and climb on the slopes!

Snow Miser has delivered some cold air where needed starting today. NC Mountains are blowing snow and hoping to have terrain open mid week. I'll keep an eye on things and see about a day trip Thanksgiving Saturday if conditions and honey do list allow.

Might end up skiing Black Friday instead of Saturday. Kid might have a paying gig Saturday that conflicts with a trip up to the mountains. Snow will probably be better Friday anyway and crowds will probably be smaller Friday morning.

Good day. Arrived at 10 am and parked right next to the main sidewalk. Cover was decent but temps got up in the low 60s.. Got a little soft after noon. Still Hellafun though. Black Friday skiing ROCKS! Well not too much but did have to steer around a few here and there.

Had the place pretty much to ourselves until about 1pm then lift line was 3-4 doubles deep.

Cold is back. Heading to Beech or Sugar Saturday morning assuming they have a trail or two open.

@Older boot
It will be a rock ski day most likely with only 2.5 days to blast down a base. I'll probably ski some very old GSRs with an option to swap to an 80 waist if the manmade is piling up by lunch.
Lets try Beech.. hoping for a better parking spot there.. Sugar tends to be more crowded on weekends.

I should be there by 10:30am, hopefully sooner. I think I still have your cell number but we can plan to meet over by the ski school at 10:30am. I'll be skiing in red pants and a grey jacket with red trim.

It's going to be cold.. Well, cold for around here, about 10 degrees. Wind chill will be sub zero up top starting out. Let me know if you need to borrow any other gear like goggles (snow making will be on), or a spare neck gator and I'll bring them from the car for you since your main gear is up north..

Really fun day. Abbreviated for tired legs, but great early season conditions for manmade whiteout. Hope they can keep those guns on another couple days.

Anyone considering a weekday trip to one of the NC hills between now and December 21?
