I was hoping to stay out of this forum. Best day so far at N* today. Chalky groomers, bottomless powder in the trees. I stopped to check on a kid who dumped in front of me who was almost invisible on the downhill side of a powder mound. I think I leaned forward and my poles sunk. My left calf went POP! and that was it. I had this happen before and it's weeks of recovery. Dang. Best season in years.

That pop is the worst sound. When my meniscus tore it sounded like someone popping a bag of chips. Bummer and good luck with the recovery.

Last time it happened it was one of the calf muscles. Feels the same this time. Kind of high, pain radiating down the leg. Trip to the doc is in the works.

So sorry dude, this is why you cannot go up there unsupervised. I am sure Ross will check it out tonight.

Last time I felt that pop, it was a ruptured Achilles. Previous pop in the calf was a torn muscle.

The torn muscle was six or so weeks of healing. The ruptured Achilles was more like six to eight MONTHS.

Hope you have a minor version of the former.

It's the little calf muscle. A few weeks.

Potassium and magnesium. Get those tablets. One of each once a day to avoid muscle spasms

This afternoon is exactly two weeks since I pulled mine. This morning I biked with my daughter. It felt good, and I'm hoping to be back in the snow soon (no sooner than a week from now, though). There is hope, my friend!
Yep, even after just two days in a boot and on ice it feels much better. It is the plantaris musle/tendon that tore. A muscle that 10-20% of the population doesn't even have. Hoping for a relatively quick recovery.

Maybe reduce your heel DIN? That's what I did several years ago after a couple of minor calf tears.

Bummer:(

Do all the right stuff and heal. When you think you are ready again just go out and ski mellow groomers. It will probably help both your mental and physical recovery and your skiing. Works for me usually.

Nice to have met you in Utah!
