First time I have seen San Jacinto Peak. (Earlier today). Wow. The scale is off the charts. I am at about 1200 feet taking the photo from SR 111 and the peak rises above 11,800 feet. Do the math! The only more impressive mountain face I have seen is the Eiger's north face in Switzerland. But San Jacinto has the largest contrast in ecosystems wow. Just wow.

It rises to over 10,800 feet not 11,800. Oooops, My mistake! Still impressive prominence

I went out fishing for the first time this year, after skiing, but was given the white stripe. I'll get 'em next time.

Imagine having breakfast then walking around the corner and getting in a lift that takes you up there!
That's the Aiguille du Midi lift in Chamonix. Pictured below. 9,200 ft vertical rise lift in two stages right from town.

Base in town at 1030 meters to 3842m at top. 3379ft to 12,605ft. 9,226 foot rise!

Oh yeah, the Alps are craaaaaazy. My first glimpse at the Eiger's North Face I just stood there for minutes admiring it. Almost 10k feet of vertical rock and ice.

Have you seen Rainier? 14,400' starting pretty much near sea level. This picture is from Crystal Mt. about 6500'. This is a very crappy picture shot from one of my old cell phones. This picture was shot from 40 miles away?

It's not photo of the day, but it's video. In last few weeks, we had +20c around here, so all my winter gear, including car's winter tires were packed away already. But after I saw forecast for Wednesday and Thursday, I changed tires again, unpacked winter clothes and scrapped off storage wax from my powder skis. And yes, it was worth all the hassle. Almost 1m of fresh powder, -10c all day long was pretty much all I needed for great day.
While our winter pretty much sucked all year long, and I had only 2 or 3 great days in deep powder, end of winter certainly looks much better, with another 1 to 1.5m fresh dry powder in forecast for second half of next week :)

Vail raised the price of a turkey Reuben sandwich, hamburger and hot dog at Park City.

Several years ago I was aghast at the $11.10 cost of a hot dog at Vail owned Heavenly. That looks like a bargain compared with what you found.

I took a picture of the menu then and used Photoshop to merge it with Ikea's menu which was selling hot dogs for fifty cents. I posted the photo on Heavenly's Facebook Page with the following: "Can you say markup? I knew you could..........."

Mt. Hood, Mt. Shasta, Mt. Lassen. Looks like there may be some patch skiing opportunities this summer.
