Update on the Casco RS Aero
Pluses:
Vautron visor is very fast to change - faster than a lot of prescription lenses
Vautron visor turns light enough to work on completely shaded paths and in twilight
Internal suspension runs cooler than padded helmets
Better venting than the Giro - by a lot.
Downsides:
Chin clip is a bit overdesigned, not clunky so much as ...involved is the word. The snap is structurally similar to the latches on old school ski safety straps with a flat resilient element and a hook that is pulled through. On the upside, it's less likely to break than squeeze clips.
Visor removal and storage on the helmet kind of requires removal - the attachment points are not the giant, obvious self-centering magnets that the Giro has. Of course the upside is that the Casco is lighter.
