Thanks guys. I ended up getting these. I think Spanish wines Are more approachable for someone used to new world stuff. Personally, I like northern Italian reds the best...Got that gold label one just because it looks “fancy” and “special” ...we’ll see....

I'm going to have to tell my local MP that he has a wine company. Neil Ellis is the Conservative member of Parliament for Quinte riding....go figure....I'm sure he doesn't know as he was the former mayor of the city too!!

Since I can't ski yet, might as well be somewhere warm.

At the Orange House Wine Bar in Punta Gorda Florida. Angels and Cowboys. One of those new style blends with a bit of petit verdot for a little tannin kick. Really good.
Other than the fact that I am a young guy by comparison here, this is cool. A band with keyboard, drunner, bass guitar, and two saxophones playing cool tunes somewhere in the blues to jazz spectrum.

I'm going to make this Jamaican Oxtail stew this weekend. Any pairing suggestions? Red, white, or both!

I just realized that this thread also seems to be the Foodie thread (duhhh)....I'll be here more often for sure...

Even though it is red meat, I think the spicyness overrules that. I'd go with an aromatic white, maybe a reisling or a viognier, or even something funky like a gewurztraminer.

Agree. If you pass on my beer suggestion.

Thanks guys. I’ve decided to go full on Jamaican tonight. Red stripe - check. Goslings dark and stormies - check.

I’m also going to make Jamaican cabbage and carrot sauté. A friend is coming over with coconut cake. Peters putting together a dance hall and reggae playlist.

I started cooking the stew last night. 1 hour to go....while cooking, I drank this. I like funky gamey light reds. I highly recommend it. E0E76028-EDDD-4CC4-9E32-E5F056A64F53.jpeg

I love light reds. In fact I started this thread with one, and am having its latest vintage right now!

Had a 2012 Silver Oak with dinner at Harrison's in Stowe tonight. Hard to complain though it would have been even better with a few more years in the bottle.

What is that on the grill? Lamb? Pork ribs?

Mmmm

Those were pork ribs, yeah, and the little guys are sliced portabella mushrooms with olive oil salt and pepper. Yummy!

The crianza was good and will last for about a week if I behave. I am using a heavy inert gas wine preserver so it's a simple spray of gas and recork, and in to the fridge :thumb:
