Does anybody know what's up with this stuff?

It's pretty good.
I'm guessing it was a brand-diversification that they changed their minds about...
The bottle doesn't say Klinker Brick anywhere, but the web site redirects to it.

Not really. I am drinking perhaps a wine in the antipodes of yours. A vino nobile di montepulciano. Not bad, but really light on its feet. It was ok with the fresh pasta I made, and the red sauce I also made to go with it. But nothing special, and definitely, not a big/jammy one. Nice acidity, and that's about it. No complains.

Indulgent birthday lunch. ..
Orin Swift Abstract Red, Stilton, sheep's milk Manchego, and aged Gouda ( not at all like the red wax stuff ).

Unfortunately I elbowed my glass watching the SG on tv, and lost a glass full
(and the glass).

An old friend, rediscovered thanks to the New Hampshire Liquor Commission. I so love this. Soul mate.

I’d like to get my step dad a special red to have with our Xmas eve dinner tonight. We’re having prime rib....he usually drinks California/new world cabs....I’d like help him expand his pallet to more old world - French, Spanish, Portuguese...

Any recommendations? Looking for something “mainstream” enough to be able to find at the local bev mo.

Thinking 40dollars and below for a bottle....

Thanks!

Too hard without more input and an inventory of your store. Skip Burgundy if you're trying to open his mind to Europe. As a cab guy he'll think they're wimpy. For $40 I would go for whatever Rhone, Priorat, or Montsant they have at that price that someone thinks is good. You didn't mention Italy but a more internationally styled Tuscan could be a winner. Readily available? Antinori Riserva Marchese Antinori. Drizzle some good evoo, Malden salt, and cracked pepper over each slice of prime rib. Now GO!

Reasonable in these circumstances. Don't tell anyone I said so.

Thanks guys. I ended up getting these. I think Spanish wines Are more approachable for someone used to new world stuff. Personally, I like northern Italian reds the best...Got that gold label one just because it looks “fancy” and “special” ...we’ll see....
