Zamboni Ice Machines: Invented in the USA, and apparently driven their best by USA pilots at these Olympics:

"I have really good American drivers," said Remy Boehler of France, in charge of ice for the figure skating and short-track speedskating arena and practice rinks. "For me, it is a dream team."

USA, USA, USA!

Tongue in cheek, but also a truly interesting story.

I've also seen a couple of impressive homegrown mini-Zambonis over the years, mostly for use on small municipal and private rinks.

I grew up around the things, and the most interesting thing I found in the article was that each ice sport requires a distinctly different type of surface.

There were times, while skiing in Michigan, when I wondered if they used a Zamboni instead of a Cat to groom ;)
