We'll have to wait and see, but I would love to go!

Re: Weekend of July 21-22, I was VRBO looking around at units, and found that a number are already booked for our weekend. Besides the skiing, there's a reggae festival that weekend.

Here's a TR for yesterday and today.

We skied Mammoth yesterday and today. There is plenty of snow. Coverage from Stump Alley to Main Lodge to the top is 110%.

It's typical spring skiing. The mountain opens at 7:30 and you should probably be there by 8 am. Depending on the previous night's temperature and cloud cover (or clear sky) it will probably be pretty firm (not Eastern ice!) at 7:30. Of course, I'm speaking of mid-June, not late July conditions. I honestly don't know if it will firm up overnight in late July.

Below are some photos taken yesterday and today.

Going to sleep so I can do it all again tomorrow.

I also worry about conditions that late in July, then again ... I've never skied in July before. The reggae festival is that weekend, free of charge, and should be fun.

I've been finding the same thing. The place we usually stay is booked as well.

We've been looking at lodging and trip planning for these planned dates but are having little luck finding anything reasonable. I guess the Reggae Festival has booked most of the good options out. And we are registered to attend the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market Expo, which is on the heels of this trip to Mammoth,(July 24-29) we're going to have to back out on this one. :(

But...Phil and I will likely be planning a couple day excursion some time sooner than the planned weekend if anyone is up for that.

I'm thinking about going next weekend. I think it's going to be hot.

Hey P & T, love to join you two for a day or overnight trip or several to Mammoth; car pool or caravan; week day or end; any time - let me know when you are thinking of going.

Phil and I still have two tickets to use for Mammoth this season, but adulting has been getting in the way.
How is the snow holding up?

My understanding is that Climax, Cornice, Dropouts, Saddleback Bowl , and the face of 3 are still decent. The bottom is pretty much done. We'll find out this weekend! In the meantime, here's a link to a video Mammoth Mountain Snowman took yesterday. Scroll down a bit and you'll find it.

I'm still considering going, but lodging is slim pickings. But looking at the pictures and video makes me want to ski! Plus, I just love the eastern Sierra and haven't been in a while.
