Ski Movement Player 2016
After a number of years of outstanding service, the JAM gives way to the PLAYER this season. Sharing many of the qualities of its predecessor, the PLAYER will become one of the benchmarks in the All Mountain market. At 86mm underfoot, the PLAYER is really adaptable and a short sidecut allows it to enter the turn with ease. The construction has been re-worked and optimized to include a poplar core with tri-axial weave to give the ski outstanding acceleration and fluidity. The new rocker tip borrowed from the GAMBLER helps the ski pivot and improves off-piste performance. The reference ski in this category without a doubt.
The Player is 1mm wider underfoot than the Jam but has more sidecut, whilst retaining a good level of torsional stiffness, a combination that gives very good edge hold on harder snow whilst allowing it to handle powder with some aplomb.
It also gave a very smooth ride, and we especially enjoyed the Player in hard, long radius turns when it simply refused to do anything other than stay on the rail and carve.
This versatility is one of the most appealing aspects of this ski - we felt equally at home on or off-piste with it, and with solid application by the rider it will also handle tracked out terrain as well.
Add to that some cool graphics and a not unreasonable price and it makes a good successor to the Jam.
Like its predecessor, the Player will surely be a popular choice amongst seasonaires who like to mix it between piste and powder and who want something they can be proud to leave outside the bar after a hard days skiing.
