I am sticking with my Tahoe plans (Feb. 28 - March 10) and hoping for the best. Hopefully BA will over deliver!!!

FB Weather has been staying really cold here in Tahoe, closest to winter snow we have had since early december! so looking better than it was....of course I am basing on Rose, not the epic pass resorts!

Yeah saw the last storm had ratios of 20:1 which is exceptional for Sierra Cement. Might just hold a room in Carson and call an audible when I've skied Kweed and trust Priceline to provide on the rest.

Kinda need a bit of mental prep for the drive - maybe 6 hours into the night to a casino room in Wendover might work if I did head East.

I have a two week vacation at the beginning of March and have been thinking of heading to Utah (for part of the Gathering, and to use some Park City days). My issue is not the drive (the drive gives me time to think), but finances. I have two passes and a seasonal lease in Tahoe. I don't have accommodations or lift tickets paid for (except Park City) in Utah. But the recent Utah snow reports and prospects of meeting some new fun people to ski with have me thinking.....

if you really want to make the drive and lose a couple of days, (and it is long boring one!), keep going to Jackson or Big Sky where they have good snow.....

Yeah, I would do exactly that. Either enjoy whatever is in Tahoe or go to a place that has had a good snow season. It doesn't seem like CO or UT are in much better shape than Tahoe this season.

Over here, it seems to me like we are still hoping, against all evidence, that a big storm, one of those dropping feet, not inches, will cover the ice. Because we have that solid base

I'm fine with that, I go out and ski, and I am grateful for each day. But I am also careful, at my skill level, because I know at the end of this smooth turn there might be exposed dirt or hard ice. So it's not a bad idea to take a first run to scout the terrain, cruise, take it easy, and then come back with more determination. Works for me (TM).

IMG_4330.JPG IMG_4330.JPG IMG_4331.JPG I skied Alpine from 3-4 today. It was wonderful. Werner's Schuss was sugary and Alpine Bowl was chalky. I love Alpine Bowl when I'm tired from work, it's so wide, and the snow has been great. Didn't head to Wolverine side, ran out of time and light. There were some ice patches on the lower parts of the mountain, but nothing terrible.
Here you go @Mendieta

It's a long story having to do with the "cloud," my iPad and how to get pics from my phone to iPad. I never have my laptop when I'm in Tahoe.
If you have pics on your phone, the PugSki mobile site is easy to post pics on. Just sayin'.

Looks like heavenly is getting some snow in the next few days which is exciting. I'm hoping to take a private at heavenly. Does anyone have an instructor they'd recommend.

Yes, PM me, I know a few instructors, that are top notch

Anybody skiing this week? With temps general conditions are obviously firm. Is that good firm or bad firm. You know what I mean.

EDIT: now I see luliski's post. For some reason when I posted this, I saw no new posts in last three days. Refreshed. Same. Then as soon as I posted, saw half a dozen. Still, thinking of coming up tonight and skiing tomorrow. Firm and chalky, or firm and boilerplatey?

It's snowing steadily at lake level in Tahoe City this morning. Maybe 2" so far. I'm going to Northstar today, I'll report back later. But they had tons of boilerplate when I was there on Monday.

Just finished my ski for the week yesterday @Rose. Still had good leftover's from Sunday & Monday's storm. Groomers were hard, blue/black moguls were soft. Bluebird day yesterday and did I mention the crowds? I couldn't stand it. [Rant] Don't want to be back in an office [\Rant]

Current storm radar shows most of storm has now moved out of the Tahoe zone. Extra light sub 7 inch depths. 0.34 inches in the Caples CDEC gauge, 0.22 at SLT. Now that the firm layers are deeper KW ought be a joy tomorrow but without mr dave. Get sum Brian. Maybe some additional lake effect on HV rest of tonight.

Enough I would get some days in tomorrow or after the weekend were it not I have JURY DUTY next week. ): Two more minor cold storms during next work week and then maybe something bigger on the horizon per BA and NWS. Hoping to not get stuck on some long term jury as happened to me a decade ago and finally get into hard core skiing mode as we swing into March.
