I don't know what they call those things you stick your head through to take silly pictures of like being in Lederhosen at Oktoberfest.

This one was all by itself in the middle of summer and is a skiing pickle. Because once isn't enough:

Ah... I saw that pic earlier and glossed right over it when I saw the pickle board mentioned. I was thinking it was a skiing "pickle board"... but clearly it's a "skiing pickle" board.

For any Rick and Morty fans... clearly there must be some tie-in to this :

Toyota rules!

Now back to your regularly scheduled CO Weather and Stoke! In this case unStoke.

I think this is the result of all the fires in the NW but has been exacerbated by the fire in Routt County.

For reference.

Yea - it's high level smoke weather right now apparently mostly out of Montana with the cold front that came through from the north yesterday.

Colorado is supposed to stay between the big west coast high pressure and east coast low, so that means mild NW flow for a few days and probably persistant higher atmosphere smoke.

Tonight is the harvest full moon - might be spectacular if the clouds clear and smoky haze is in the mix.

Front Range is getting unbearable; I can't imagine how it is elsewhere. Last night's sun from my back porch: IMG_1378.JPG

I went out yesterday afternoon for a ride and had to turn back. I though there was a fire close by. It was just ridiculously thick smoke.

I just finished a ride and cut it short, or cut out some of the climbing to be more accurate.

Did anyone here run the 10k in Fort Collins? I did't run, but the smoke was thick there.

After a week full of Irma BS I'm very glad to stumble across this 2017-2018 thread to start dreaming about our up coming Colorado trip. We evacuated Clearwater Beach Friday and are staying up at our Brevard, NC house for a couple weeks until the dust settles. We will be leaving for Colorado in 108 days and not a day goes by without one of us (usually me or my 9 y/o son) bringing up our 9 week Colorado trip. My right ankle joint is slowly wearing out with all this summer's activity so this ski season can't get here soon enough. I'm nervous about how it will do trying to ski 6-7 days a week but this could be my last hurrah before getting it fused next year so I'm going to party in the snow no matter what the pain level is and deal with the consequences after the season.

I'm really looking forward to start seeing photos of you guys skiing the WROD so I can start living vicariously through you early in the season! It's going to be a great winter!

Hiking near Nederland. Somewhere between 8k and 9k feet.

This only sort of fits here, but I was kind of amazed to realize how much crap I skied over last March getting a few (like, two) powder turns to the side of the Sallie Barber trail.

Mid-September:

This fits here: Sallie Barber mine is always striking, but I like how this photo shows the colors changing in the distance -

I'll see those leaves and raise you trees!

Breck's Peak 8 and and north is in the background.

Both Loveland and A-Basin are testing their guns and filling their ponds in anticipation of the 'great snowmaking race' to be first to open.

I'm not sure this counts, but they increase my stoke -

These are custom painted mugs by Jane Hamlin in Breckenridge. (She's also a wonderful ski instructor.) *quick plug* she also does wine glasses, paintings, greeting cards ... you can find her at the Breck farmer's market. She added a little mountain bike for me on the summer version :)

Drove Squaw Pass road the other day. Very very few aspen groves are yellow. Most are light green. Id say at least 7 days for a general peak at 10k feet.

@Doug Briggs not sure of the temps at night at your house but at least at the base of Copper it's still hanging around the mid 40's for early morning. Temps have cooled off since the Labor Day weekend 80's. I think Kathy (9News) mentioned something about the possibility of snow at the higher elevations next week.

We've had some frosty mornings, but not in the past few days.
