We would actually have higher numbers but I have been deleting spammers.

Hahahaha, my stupid, meaningless rant in the tennis thread about stupid scoring terms and no (more?) use of "45" apparently contributed to the 45,000th post here LOL!

Let's try for 1K before July 4th!
I like the way you think but we also need to be realistic, quality over quantity. We got a lot of the low hanging fruit (or fruits in this case :P) from the old site. There are some that haven't come over yet who are lurking and some that never will and thats all OK. Member growth will come from creating great content and tagging so new people find us. Member numbers are very good actually, seeing how many we have here 6 months in compared to other sites that starte fresh, they are very good. What is exceptional is the page views, we are pushing 2.5 million at this point which is off the carts for a new site. If you see something that needs to be answered elsewhere, let them know that they will get a great respectful answer on Pugski.com.

I think @VinceF was trying to wait to be 900 but couldn't wait any longer.

@crgildart, UP Racer is on here under his own name. He hasn't posted but he's here, and he does lurk. We spent some time at his place last summer while we were in Michigan, and vice versa when he was out this way in the spring.

So what exactly is a 'robot' in usage terms?
Someone like @Doug Briggs may be able to explain it better but....
Robots are auto searchers for search engines, like google. They pick up our tags and terms and help bring us up in search rankings.

That explains it nicely.

Like the name implies, robots are automotons that search the internet for sites, read them in and extract the salient points (depending on what they are designed to glean).

Good robots support search engines like Google, Yahoo, etc. Bad robots work for spammers grabbing your personal information (usually email addresses) and using the data for ill. This is one reason you don't want to put email addresses and telephone numbers on websites in clear text.

The most amount of views outside of the US are coming from Japan which is indeed quite intereting.

At least it isn't Russia or some country that doesn't have a thriving ski industry. Or to put it another way, it is good it isn't a country known for hacking like Russia or China.
