I skied practical carvers last week. They were the right choice for 95% of the conditions and terrain I see. However, I will put them away and spend the next couple days on the cool looking skis instead.. Still keeping it full camber and sub 85mm underfoot, but will go with twin tip pretty topsheet skis the cool kids like unless I see a good forecast or NASTAR course...

I didn't even take my 84s today — had a blast on the 66s. SLs are the new fat skis.

Blizzard Magnum 8.5ti 174cm

Absolutely love that ski, the one I use most by far. Others,

Scott Fly'air 167, for carving at slow speeds
Fischer Ranger 84, 184, cheap lightweight ski for BC
Volkl RTM 84, 171, earlier ones without camber, easy turns in bumps
Volkl BMT 109, 184, not so cheap, very lightweight powder BC; wish it had camber, should have tried Blizzard Zero G's

Assuming I can keep up the commitment of not buying skis this year, here's this season's quiver:

YciHS91.jpg

From L->R, fat to skinny:
184 Moment Bibby Pros (to be mounted with the white/orange Solly 916s hiding in the upper right quarter): Resort pow
186 PMGear Lhasa Hybrids w/ Sollyfit plates: Backcountry pow + travel
184 Moment Deathwish: Light pow / left overs / early season powder over rocks
187 Atomic Alibi: Daily driver
182 Praxis Yetis: Low-tide backcountry
185 K2 Aftershocks: WROD, super low tide
178 High Society Bezerks: Gaper days, spring slush-bump fests.

Well I generally always had a quiver of 1 skiing a carving mid fat. My latest has been the Dynastar Cham 97. However, after a season in Colorado, this year I decided to keep that as my firm days ski and added a fat ski Salomon Rocker 2 122 for softer powder, powder chop, crud and soft packed powder. I am anxious to see how that mix plays out.

How do you like the Volkl 10Eight? Just got those for my wife for powder and soft snow days.

Mine are 90Eights although I have demoed the 100Eights and liked those as well. I'm selling my 90Eights. I like them fine but I demoed my Meier Wild Bills which are the same waist width and I like those way better. I just don't simply have the room for 2 skis that are the same width. I don't plan on teaching in my Wild bills so if I don't sell the 90Eights or get even close to what I want for them, I'll likely hang onto them and use them for teaching on a powder or slushy day.

I demoed the 100Eight on a warm spring day in northern arizona and they were awesome in soft packed champaigne powder. Very fun ski. I'm sure your wife will love them.

I forgot about my snowboard. That counts too right :) I snowboarded for 8 years before I transitioned to skiing. I've been missing it in recent years so when I came upon this board I grabbed it.. Need bindings but here she is.

Quiver for the season finally all sorted out and (mostly) mounted. Thanks to @Philpug for suggesting going with the GTOs on the Heads, not only do they look good, but after day 1 on the WROD I can confirm they rip harder than I do early season.

From L -> R:
Inbounds
184 Moment Bibby with STH916 @ -0.5cm. Powder >6"
184 Moment Deathwish with STH914. Light powder, early season inbounds rock ski.
187 Atomic Alibi with PX15. Daily driver.
177 Head Monster 83 with Head GTO15. Groomers, high pressure weeks, spring bumps.

Backcountry
186 PMGear Lhasa Pow with Sollyfits & Speed Radicals. Mid-winter pow touring
187 Moment Belafonte. To be mounted with Speed Rads from Lhasas for early season touring when sharkfins are likely. $20 ski swap special and currently drilled for the Dynafits at (very close to) my BSL.
182 Praxis Yetis with Radicals. Low-tide touring, spring peak bagging.
