In all fairness to Jan Bucher the outfit probably was intended to be a bit "showy" and probably fit in with the times.
Yep, it's more of a costume than a ski outfit. Lots of the top ballet skiers were going with themes that matched their music and ballet routines back then..
It's amazing what you can come up with when you get dressed in the dark.
Don't know about the vest, but I'd take the jacket and pants!!!

I can see the mixing part, not so much with the matchy thingie.
Well, what can I say; I'm just a crazy mixed up kinda guy! But get serious, don't you think the glove fingers go very well with the boots???
(And, yes, I tend not to take myself too seriously... It's a lot more fun that way.)
