Obsidian. She's shiny and black, and can be very sharp.

Cyd for short.

Blackie - especially if Andy has young children, but that may be racist now.
Rose - for Mt Rose. I have friends with a border collie named Pico because Killington was too long.
Duchess - to be a little more Royal
Uvex, Caber,

I really do like LEKI.

Can't wait to hear more about her! Here are a few:

Ebony -- Ebby for short
Loki
Onyx
Raven

+1 on Diamond (like the ski pun!) You'll be able to tell skiers from non-skiers when you introduce her.

She's actually a chocolate lab but grey/silver in color. Likely will stay that way. Mom is a chocolate and dad's a yellow. She and her 11 (yes, ELEVEN! 1 other silver, 3 black and 7 yellow) brothers and sisters were born on 7/2. Luckily we live close to our friends and I can see her frequently before she's ready to leave mom.

D-O-G as in the letters sounded out individually, not dog as in dog.
That's my 130lb loaf of a golden name who won't retrieve anything ! People aren't sure what to make of it, or him for that matter.
His occasional nickname is Forest for when and if he goes out for a run.

I always wanted to do this...
Ok, say that fast five times - "DeeOhGee" ... would work if the dog were an Akita;)

@Andy Mink - ULLR was mentioned on Facebook, but Ullr is the Nordic God of snow and this is a female, so how about the Nordic Goddess of snow? Skadi
Or you could go with the Greek Goddess of snow Khione.
