Today is the 33rd anniversary of the first Olympic DH Gold won by an American man. It was quite a gliding ride on those incredibly fast red sleds!

RIP, Bill Johnson. And thanks for the memory!

I think I remember a video of his winning run accompanied by the song Putting on the Ritz from an old Fred Astaire movie. Looked for it once but came up blank. The song and the skiing went together nicely. Classic guy, classic skiing, classic song..
