Without all the new snow we had at the end of last week, I'm expecting less than outrageous crowds. :-|

The amount of monstrously incompetent people already driving up yesterday leads me to believe otherwise, but maybe I just needed a Snickers. :D

Forecasts of icy doom do not seem to be holding up around first chair time...

But if Dean could make it to Tahoe he could grill with us at Mt Rose.

Soooo we will be driving up to Hood for the summer. We should be done with work around the 2nd or 3rd week of August. Lets definitely plan on linking up the latter half of August! We have 2 days at Mammoth and we definitely plan to drop in on you guys in Reno if you're around.

Has anyone noticed and wondered about the brass plaques on the Pali chairs? Well I have. So when I noticed one on the chair ahead of me, I thought to check the chair I was in.

And no. Tim Finnigan didn't pass in 2009. He is still the director of Mountain Operations.

^^^ blue patches in the sky? Go about 14 miles west and it's snowing. Just a light wet snow.

A-Basin is showing about 2". The squalls just had to roll east.

Also, lower East Wall is open today...

Redundant to posting on the weather thread, but why not? Sun and cloud cycles in turn cycled the snow like crazy. We had increasing yummy slush piles down low from 10:15 until 3:15 and up high cycled from hard underneath to stand 'n slide corn after a 30 min sun break. East Wall closed at about 1:30, perhaps for the season?

Quite excellent given the relatively poor weather forecast. Gotta love late season legs on a day like today.

SundanceSlush was good all day and made for a retreat when the upper mountain was cycling through some grabby moments.

There's a reason I am the photographer here.

30 minutes of sun and a brief excellent corn cycle...

Until next round of clouds....

And another snow transition cycle.

The snow had some give and soft wetness from the morning bell.

I met up with a bunch of Masters racing friends.

I couldn't see the screen on my phone, but that is significant snow from release high (and out of the image :-( )

All the open runs on the lower mountain were good. No bare spots. And all of this ^^^ is closed for safety.

A crew was setting up a huge comealong in preparation for servicing the splice on the haul line of BMX.

In the lot.

I thought conditions this weekend were pretty good considering how warm and sunny it was. Even with sunscreen I got fried yesterday. I'm not sure how the hec some were skiing with ski pants and jackets. They had to be burning up. I think it was about 1:00 p.m. when I stopped skiing and the only sticky spots I hit were en route from BML down to Lenawee. I did run into a traffic jam in the glades mid morning. Seem like it was a favorite for many.

The Ramrod bump slaughter hasn't occurred yet as prep begins for reopening. Seems like they may try for Father's Day?

The cloud cover we've had is definitely helping...
