Unfortunately still 65 degrees at the lake yesterday. Instead of skiing I am still paddle boarding....:(
I was wearing a light shirt at work yesterday, didn't need a jacket when I left the shop last night. :(

Opening day at Northstar is Friday November 18th. As of today, we're scheduling the staff like we're opening strong. Lets hope this storm comes in on Tuesday and Wednesday and brings some cold temps.
From BA Opensnow

Thank you, Tricia! Mt Rose is shooting for the same. From their front page:

Kidz @ Rose and Team Falcons Week 1 Postponed. Unfortunately warmer temperatures have kept Mt. Rose from making enough snow to operate. Our hope is to start the programs next Weekend Nov 19 & 20.

Yes, fingers crossed. Our masters program starts on the 17 th if we can open...though I suspect it will be a couple of weeks more before I can get gates in the ground....not necessarily a bad thing, get my athletes working on drills and basics

Man, I hope this tuesday/wednesday storm and cold weather pays off. They need to get some snow on the ground soon to open at flatstar, despite all the over-the-summer slope grooming.

For what it's worth, I'm SURE they'll be able to get that swath of white open at the top of heavenly, which will be good for a couple turns next week anyhow.

I would defiantly recommend staying at Treck's and Phils's . Cause Ziggi is the bomb!!!Oh ya and the previous two also mentioned are great folk also!

Wait - did you shut down your questionable gambling operations at Chez Ziggy? :roflmao:

if close to the action it'd only be 4 minimum! Plus Nick, our gambler is fine with losing money, least his modus operandi for trip frequency is when the pain of losses (mental and cash flow) diminish, this time would be 4-5 months.

Will be pretty limited terrain to start with but they will probably be blowing snow 24/7 if weather permits between now and Turkey day. :beercheer:

Hi Pete, do your buds have a place to stay yet?
Many of the Casino's in Reno have good packages for stay and ski, including Grand Sierra and Peppermill. @Older boot travels a lot for work and comes to Reno frequently so he may have some recommendations on that as far as staying here.

If I were you I'd go one one to the different casinos and see what they have going on for shows.
For instance - Grand Sierra's just for example.
https://www.grandsierraresort.com/entertainment-and-nightlife?gclid=CNzO06WentACFQ6NaQodQrABGQ
They have everything for shows from Tosh.O to Don Rickels and music from a variety of performers.
Atlantis is having Bill Engval this month, and some other great acts through the winter.
....And so on...
All of the casinos have your usual gambling, dining, shows, etc
Some have shuttles to/from ski resorts
All have shuttle from the airport

All of this is located 40-50 minutes away from world class skiing

thanks! (all)

checking out the Peppermill as I suspect it would be gaudy enough for Nick to feel at home! Ok, maybe more posh and seems to have some decent deals, but will toss out the Grand Sierra too. Suspect we'd do Rose ... but time to work numbers and suggest travel options. ;)
